Nkomwa Foundation Trust (NFT) is a disability-led Community Based Organisation based in Gwanda, Zimbabwe. Established in 2020 and legally registered as a “Trust”. Its primary mission is to create an inclusive ecosystem through support, empowerment and mainstreaming in sustainable ways, rights of persons with disabilities particularly children.
Life skills & Economic Empowerment
In a country where personal skills often define economic opportunities, Nkonwa Foundation Trust (NFT) is committed to empowering young people with disabilities (PWDs) and their caregivers. We provide start-up capital and support to help them launch their own businesses, fostering independence, self-reliance, and long-term economic growth.
Educational Support
Every individual has the right to education, regardless of disability. At Nkonwa Foundation Trust (NFT), we ensure that young people with disabilities (PWDs) can access this fundamental right. We provide support with school fees, essential learning materials, and school enrollment, helping PWD students pursue their education with confidence.
Care & Health management services
People with disabilities (PWDs) often face challenges accessing healthcare, from travelling long distances to communication barriers. Nkonwa Foundation Trust (NFT) bridges the gap between PWDs, their caregivers, and healthcare providers, ensuring everyone receives the care they need.
Advocacy & lobbying
Nkonwa Foundation Trust (NFT) champions the rights of people with disabilities (PWDs). We engage in advocacy and lobby for policy changes that improve the lives of PWDs, working at both the community and national levels.
Psycho Social Support
People with disabilities (PWDs) often face challenges in families, schools, churches, and society, including discrimination, bullying, and violations of their rights. Nkonwa Foundation Trust (NFT) provides counselling and psycho-social support to young PWDs and families raising a child with a disability, helping them navigate these challenges with confidence and resilience.
Training and Development
NFT empowers PWDs, caregivers, and communities through life skills programs. Trainings include disability sensitisation, sign language, and practical skills like soap and dish-washer making.
