NFT Director celebrates beneficiaries with luncheon

Nkomwa Foundation Trust (NFT) Director, Mr. Pick Nkomwa, on Friday hosted a luncheon for 16 beneficiaries and their caregivers drawn from Gwanda Urban, in what became a day of inspiration, reflection and celebration.

In his remarks, Mr. Nkomwa extended a warm welcome to the gathering, linking the event to NFT’s 5th anniversary celebrations.

“My warm welcome to all children and parents. My apologies for the short notice. However, there is nothing much today. As we are in our 5th year anniversary mood, let me hasten to say our organization operations are expanding, in that I’m unable to visit each in their respective home. “Today I thought of seeing my friends at one goal and have a chat while eating together. I am where I am because of these children. They are the reason for our existence as an organization. I am glad to see you and my heart delights to see the growth and care. Let’s eat and merry,” he said, drawing applause from the attendees.

The luncheon, graced by Roman Catholic Parish Father C. Ngwarai, became an enriching dialogue where both parents and children shared aspirations and challenges.

Father Ngwarai gave words of encouragement to caregivers, praising their dedication and love.

“Caring for children with disabilities is the hardest work under the sun. When we want to talk about love, we look at you parents — you demonstrate it without doubt. I urge you to continue doing this work of grace. We applaud the NFT leader and his team for creating such a space where you feel safe with your children. Kudos to the team,” he said.

Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude for the gesture.

Young Munyaradzi Gunde joyfully remarked, “Ngiyabonga khakhulu sir Nkomwa namhla ngikholisile,” while parent Memory Khumalo added, “Siyabonga kakhulu ukudla inyama, sijabulile ukulibona ngemva kwesikhathi eside. God bless you.”

The luncheon created a platform not only for sharing a meal but also for strengthening the bond between NFT, beneficiaries and their families.

It reaffirmed the organization’s role as a safe haven of hope and empowerment for persons with disabilities in Matabeleland South and beyond.
