International Day of Rural Women-2025
Today, 15 October 2025, @Nkomwa Foundation Trust (NFT) joins the global community in celebrating the International Day of Rural Women, a day dedicated to honouring the resilience, innovation, and invaluable contributions of women in rural communities who sustain families, communities, and economies through agriculture and natural resource management.
Under this year’s theme, “Empowering Rural Women for Reparatory Justice: Advancing Inclusive and Sustainable Agri-Food Systems in Africa,” NFT stands in solidarity with all rural women—especially women and girls with disabilities—who continue to play a pivotal role in building inclusive and sustainable food systems despite facing multiple layers of discrimination and limited access to resources.
At NFT, we believe that true empowerment begins with justice, equity, and inclusion. It also means ensuring that every woman, regardless of her abilities or background, has access to land, finance, technology, and decision-making spaces within the agri-food sector.
As we commemorate this day, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing gender equality, disability inclusion, and economic empowerment in rural communities.
