September is Deaf Awareness Month: Awareness is not the finish line.
We already know Deaf people exist.
The question is: What are we doing to make sure Deaf people are included?
Inclusion means more than captions.
It means removing barriers to information, communication, participation, and opportunity.
It means respecting Deaf culture and SL as a language, not treating it as an afterthought.
Awareness tells us who is in the room.
Accessibility makes sure no one is left out.
This Deaf Awareness Month, let’s move beyond awareness.
Let’s make inclusion intentional.
Let’s remove barriers.
Let’s make access the expectation, not the exception.
