NKOMWA FOUNDATION RESCUES NEGLECTED MOTHER

Marondera – Gwanda based humanitarian organisation, Nkomwa Foundation Trust, has come to the rescue of a Marondera mother of three, living with disability who was dumped by her husband, in the remote Marondera village of Kanjiva.

The woman, Ester Katerere was left in the cold by her husband, who neglected her because of her current condition, of living with disability. Pick Nkomwa heard of the predicament and travelled 655 kilometers, to rescue the mother of three, whose children had already stopped going to school.
The ecstatic Katerere, told Choice News Africa with tears of joy on her face that she cannot describe her joy fully and correctly as she was still not believing the reality of rescue.

“I am so happy, that Nkomwa Foundation Trust paid me a visit, after it came to me as a hearsay, from the rumours around the village. I thought the team would never come, but now I am speechless, mashoko haakwane kukutendai, literally translating (words are not enough to thank the organisation,” said Ester Katerere with a jovial face.
Katerere aged 42, of Kanjiva village Marondera is physically challenged and uses clutches for walking.
“It took us almost five hours of driving to get to the village, at one point we even lost our way, but that did not stop us,” said Nkomwa.
Life has been difficult for Ester a mother of three girls, having to take care of her needs as well as fending for her children. Upon arrival of the Foundation members from Gwanda, Ester was not immediately available as she was said to be searching for relish to prepare supper.
“This is where I am living with my children”, said Ester, she laughed and added,“Mariona here sabhabha redu ,magona mauyawo kuzotiona (have you seen our suburb ,you did well by paying us a visit).
NKOMWA Foundation Trust managed to buy Ester a pair of clutches, with the help of Mrs Botoman who also donated a sewing machine. She also received another donation of groceries, from a well-wisher, who added value to the gesture.
Katerere is seriously in need of descent home to stay as she is currently staying in the bush, in a pole and dagga house which is not even enough for their basic accommodation, as a small family.
She is also in dire need of financial support to take her children to school. Ester has three daughters Memory aged 15, Gamuchirai aged 12 and Zvinashe aged 7 years old.
“I have so much hope that if my children are educated, they will definitely be in a position to take care of me in the near future,” added Ester.
Nkomwa Foundation Trust, has been toiling the whole country, equipping and empowering people living with disability, with information that help them to live normally, just like everyone in their societies.
