Non-governmental organisations are born out of desire to solve a problem, meet a need or create new opportunities to help others.
The ability to live up to that desire require good corporate governance and good governance requires good leadership.
Corporate Governance is a system of law and sound approaches by which corporates are directed and controlled focusing on the internal and external corporate structures with the intention of monitoring the actions of management.
Good corporate governance refers to transparent decision making processes which the leadership of the organization, in an effective and accountable way, directs resources and exercises power on the basis of shared values.
Speaking at the sidelines of the training, Nkomwa Foundation Trust Board Chairperson Mr Saul Botoman commended the secretariat for organising the event.
“I am humbled to have this opportunity to be capacitated on corporate governance together with my team. As Board members of this organisation, we have different backgrounds and expertise, so these trainings helps us to execute our roles effectively.
This training was a great eye opener to us all. This October 2023 is our celebratory month as the organisation turns three years on the 19th. We are assured with this capacitation it will enhance our strategic thinking and take this vibrant organisation to another level.
I applaud the organisation for great milestones and impact in the community. This year 2023, Executive Director’s report indicated a significant growth despite limited funding opportunities and shrinking operating spaces.” Said Botoman.
