Several persons with disabilities mostly from teaching fields and other professional sectors attended the workshop, which they admitted was ideal and eye opening.

The training was dubbed ‘inclusive digital navigation, E-safety for all’, and was facilitated by professional and highly qualified internet experts from Internet Society of Zimbabwe, Ministry of ICT, postal and courier services.

Among the facilitators, was Superintendent Alford Nyasha, from Police technological expertise, Engineer Taurai Taurai Nyarufuka, to mention part of the highly internet experts. The subjects involved were as follows, E-safety and its importance, potential internet risks, safe internet browsing practices, Email safety and management, avoiding online threats, identifying online harassment, safe online interactions, secure online shopping, safe online banking, and protecting personal online financial transaction.

“All this was professionally packaged for persons with visual challenges, with the aim of completely eradicating online criminology and victimization of persons with disability. Its not only persons with disabilities who are victims, but even the so called able and educated have been falling prey to internet crimes,” said Superintendent Nyasha.

His sentiments concurred with those of Engineer Nyarufuka, who was also facilitating the most important training in internet security services.
