DISABILITY SENSITISATION BEARS FRUIT AS COMMUNITY UNITES FOR INCLUSIVE ACTION

Bubi — The true power of disability sensitization shone brightly last Thursday, 25 September 2025, when a newly built room was officially handed over to Mr. Enos Bhebhe, a wheelchair user, in a moving ceremony that united church, community, and local leadership.

The initiative, driven by the Seventh-day Adventist Church under the guidance of Pastor Patson Kazini, was not an isolated act of goodwill but a tangible outcome of the disability awareness campaigns rolled out in the district by Nkomwa Foundation Trust (NFT).

Through its relentless advocacy, NFT has helped communities recognize and respond to the needs of persons with disabilities with empathy and action.

Pastor Kazini said the gesture reflected the church’s deep conviction that “practical Christianity means responding to the cries of the vulnerable.”

His message resonated with the assembled crowd, which included Pastor Dumisani Nxumalo from the West Zimbabwe Conference, local village head Njabulo Mkandla, and Ward 8 Councillor Ignatious Khabo.

Their presence underscored a unified front in promoting inclusive development.

For Mr. Bhebhe, the gift of a secure and dignified living space was more than just bricks and mortar — it was proof that his community acknowledges his worth and stands by him.

Stakeholders hailed NFT for sowing the seeds of change through disability sensitization programs, which have inspired communities to view inclusion not as charity, but as a shared responsibility.

The handover stands as a testament that when awareness is matched with collective goodwill, transformative change is possible.

By equipping communities to see ability in disability, NFT has ignited a ripple effect of compassion, unity, and action — a model for inclusive development across the nation.
