The programme was organised by the Nkomwa Foundation Trust (NFT) in collaboration with key stakeholders and was chaired by the Office of the District Development Coordinator. About 80 community members attended the engagement.

The campaign created a platform for dialogue on disability inclusion, covering key issues such as understanding disability, types of disabilities, relevant legal frameworks, appropriate terminology, barriers faced by persons with disabilities, and the promotion of disability rights.

Participants included persons with disabilities, the Ward Councillor, traditional and community leaders, as well as representatives from the Office of the District Development Coordinator, World Vision International, the Women Development Association in Zimbabwe, and Masakhaneni Project Trust.

Organisers said the initiative aimed to strengthen community awareness and encourage attitudes that promote dignity, equality, and participation for all. The campaign also highlighted the need to challenge stigma and remove barriers that limit opportunities for persons with disabilities.

The Office of the District Development Coordinator emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among development partners and local leadership to ensure inclusive development at community level.

NFT and its partners reiterated their commitment to building inclusive communities where persons with disabilities are fully supported and no one is left behind.
